The big International Woodworking Fair (IWF Atlanta) finished on August 26th, and I have put this highlight video together to catch you up on the more interesting items I saw while there.

One of my “must see” things at IWF is the Design Emphasis competition.
College students from various design and manufacturing programs around the US compete to be displayed at the show. It is always great to see the designs and the skill shown in the furniture is typically top notch.

The AWFS Fair was live July 20-24th in Las Vegas this year, and I spent three days walking the floor and talking with the vendors. I posted clips from the show on our Pinterest Account, and since returning have compiled all of them into a highlight reel for you to see what I found most interesting at the show.
I bought this table at a yard sale to salvage the hardware. Fortunately, it also gave me the chance to take it apart so you can see how they used to make things like this.

For Christmas 2020, we are giving you these free plans for making a pair of fancy chopsticks without needing any complex jigs or fixtures. The tapers are freehanded using the band saw and cleaned up with a block plane. A great way to Build your Skills.
These use the Finger Joint Bit to create fancy two-tone sticks, but you can follow the instructions for making some from a single species as well.
Ralph got to travel to Udine, Italy where the Irwin Marples line of 10" and 12" saw blades are manufactured and put together. This brief video to show how saw blades are made. If you've ever wondered what goes into making a blade, check out this video!
A few years ago, Ralph had the opportunity to visit Italy. One of his favorite stops on the trip was a visit to a "Squero", where they build traditional Venitian Gondolas. In this video, Ralph shows you just how these deceptively complex boats are built completely by hand.
